One dead in Fairfield crash

One person died in a crash in the Interstate 95 southbound rest stop in Fairfield Wednesday night, according to a report by the Hartford Courant.

The state Department of Transportation says the entrance to the rest stop is closed as state police investigate the crash, which happened around 11:15 p.m.

The DOT says it could be until early morning before the rest stop is re-opened.

According to police radio transmissions, the crash involved a car and a parked tractor-trailer. It was not immediately clear if anyone else was injured.

The rest stop is located near exit 22.

A truck driver was killed in a crash on the northbound side of the highway while he was parked in the rest stop on Dec. 1. He was sleeping in the truck’s cabin when a car went airborne and smashed into the tractor-trailer.

Metro-North: Trains delayed on Danbury line

Metro-North said the Danbury Branch line is experiencing delays Wednesday night of up to 60 minutes due to an earlier disabled train.

The railroad said to listen to announcements at stations for updates. The MTA announced the delays around 10:20 p.m., and didn’t say how long it would take for service to return to normal.

Rollover crash closes 2 lanes of I-95 North in Stamford

The state DOT says two lanes are closed on Interstate 95 in Stamford between exits 6 and 7 northbound because of a rollover crash.

Only the left lane is open.

It was not immediately known if anyone was hurt in the crash. Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene, along with state police and Stamford fire.

The accident is causing delays from the New York state line to exit 6, the DOT says.
