One dead in Fairfield crash

One person died in a crash in the Interstate 95 southbound rest stop in Fairfield Wednesday night, according to a report by the Hartford Courant.

The state Department of Transportation says the entrance to the rest stop is closed as state police investigate the crash, which happened around 11:15 p.m.

The DOT says it could be until early morning before the rest stop is re-opened.

According to police radio transmissions, the crash involved a car and a parked tractor-trailer. It was not immediately clear if anyone else was injured.

The rest stop is located near exit 22.

A truck driver was killed in a crash on the northbound side of the highway while he was parked in the rest stop on Dec. 1. He was sleeping in the truck’s cabin when a car went airborne and smashed into the tractor-trailer.
