Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

Traffic update; 9 a.m.

Finally, it’s starting to get better on southwestern Connecticut highways.

Delays on southbound I-95 stretch from Exit 27 in Bridgeport down to Darien. It’s more of a stop and go situation with varying speeds and gaps between vehicles.

We no longer have the bumper-to-bumper mess that we saw earlier in the AM.

Once past Exit 14 in Norwalk, it’s a steady ride to the NY border, including past Exit 8 in Stamford, pictured left.stam exit8

The Merritt Parkway still has heavy traffic rolling southbound with speeds averaging 16 MPH from Trumbull Exit 52 down to Route 7 in Norwalk. It’s clear cruising in the Merritt’s northbound lanes.

An accident in on northbound Route 8 near between Exits 11 and 12 is the lastest problem on the roads. The crash is blocking the left and center lanes.

With the morning commute essentially over, it’s now time to get to work.

And then later heading home … back on the road again.
