Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

9 a.m. traffic update

|

Most of the major traffic backups are easing up. Mostly a decent ride on major southwestern Connecticut highways.

Merritt Parkway

There usual bottleneck near the Route 8/White Plains Road area in Trumbull is breaking up. Once past Exit 22 into No Exit Land, traffic is moving along in the low 30s mph. Traffic slows down just past the Route 7 interchange in Norwalk.

Interstate 95

Heaviest SB traffic starts near Exit 18 in Westport and continues to Exit 11 in Darien. No accidents, just some congestion to slow things down.

Speed then pick up into the 40s mph and slow near the downtown Stamford exist.

Heading east, road work projects near Exit 32 in Stratford and Near Exit 42 in West Haven are slowing traffic.

In Milford, road work  northbound between Exits 33 and 34 (1.6 miles) in effect today until noon. The right lane is closed, also the Exit 34 off ramp is closed.

 Interstate 84

Westbound traffic starts to slow once you cross the rain-swollen Housatonic into Newtown.  It remains tight to downtown Danbury.
