Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

6:30 a.m. traffic report

|

Right now it is a fairly smooth ride for a Monday morning, but it could have been a lot worse.

A car fire shortly after 5 a.m. was blocking the ramp from Route 8/25 to I-95 in Bridgeport, one of the busiest “choke points” in the region. The scene was cleared about a half-hour later. Whew!

The DOT reports heavy volume on I-95 southbound in Fairfield already between Exits 26 and 21, a distance of about 3.5 miles.

Route 8 through the Naugatuck Valley is clear, and I-91 from Wallingford into New Haven is flowing smoothly.

There Merritt Parkway is also clear at this hour.

Metro North Railroad reports that trains are running at or close to schedule.
