An accident on I-84 westbound, near Exit 11 in Newtown is blocking the shoulder and causing traffic to back up approaching Danbury. The DOT estimates it could take 30 minutes or so to clear.

I-84 is busy anyway, ahead of the accident, where around the Church Hill Road exit and in Brookfield traffic is moving at a stately 46 miles per hour.

I-95 southbound  is its usual weekday morning horror show from Exit 29 in Bridgeport out to Mill Plain Road in Fairfield, where it opens up again for another stretch. There are no reported accidents in that area, just a lot of cars and trucks trying to get to the same place– work

The Merritt parkway is heavy now from White Plains Road in Trumbull, where you’ll zip along at 40 miles per hour, the DOT says, out past Black Rock Turnpike, where it will feel like you are crawling– at 31 miles per hour.

Route 8 south is still clear through the Valley.
