Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

6:30 a.m. traffic report

|

If your car was a boat — and some of those full-size sedans practically are– it would be smooth sailing so far this morning.

There are no accidents to report at this hour, and the Merritt Parkway southbound from the Sikorsky Bridge out to New Canaan is flowing well, with cars doing the speed limit– or higher.

The usual spots where things tighten up on I-95 southbound are starting to see a little build-up but no significant delays. Expect to tap your brakes as you go by the Lafayette Boulevard exit in downtown Bridgeport and the North Benson Road exit in Fairfield.

Route 8 is clear from Waterbury almost through Bridgeport. There always seems to be some people who reach the end of that highway without deciding whether they want to go north or south.

Most of us are going south at this hour.

Metro North trains are running on schedule.
