Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

6:30 a.m. traffic update

|

As we begin the morning commute on the first day of summer, things are off to a good start.

Looks like lots of people are starting their weekend early. Traffic is still light and problem free.

But (and there’s always a but). the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is asking people to try to reduce their driving today because of high levels of ozone expected between noon and 10 p.m. today.

Traffoc on I-95 in Bridgeport is off to a nice start with ligher than normal vehicles on the road.

Interstate 95

In Fairfield. southbound is slightly congested between Exits 25 and 21 (3.3 miles). Speeds, however, are easily in the 50 mph neighborhood.

Merritt Parkway

Beautiful ride. Enough said.

Metro-North

Good here too. On or close to schedule
