Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

6:30 a.m. traffic report

|

Good morning.

It really is, at least for now, on the state’s highways.

I-95 is clear to downtown Bridgeport, where there is the usual buildup waiting to merge onto Route 8/25. Traffic is also getting heavy near Exit 27A, the main route to downtown.

The bottom of Route 8/25 is bogging down at about Exit 2, Fairfield Avenue, as vehicles prepare to enter I-95.

Road work on both sides of the Moses Wheeler Bridge between Milford and Stratford will slow things down through there.

There is also road work going on at Exit 31 (NORTH ST #1), on the southbound side of the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich.

The Merritt otherwise looks like a smooth ride through lower Fairfield County, although volume will build as rush hour begins in earnest.

Route 8 is clear through the Valley.

Metro North trains are on or close to schedule.
