Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

8:30 a.m. traffic update

|

This has to be one of the better AM commuting days in  weeks.

There were the usual bottlenecks, but traffic was still moving.

Looks like the effects of summer school vacation are starting to kick in with thousands of lucky folks off for weeks.

Interstate 95

The heaviest traffic is around Exit 18 (live cam) in Westport through Norwalk. It’s a slow crawl, but it doesn’t last.

Traffic picks up speed into the 40s mph down to Stamford.

Traffic starts to slow near the Westport border. There have been pockets of congestion this AM, but not a bad ride overall.

Merritt Parkway

Starting to loosen up around the Royte 25 merge in Trumbull. After that, speeds are in the upper 30s mph for a decent ride Down County.

Route 7

Very heavy southbound to the 95 merge. Live cam.

Interstate 84

Still a good ride, both directions, between Danbury and Waterbury. Great job!

Metr0-North

Reporting 5 to 10 minute delays into GCT because of circuit problems in the Bronx.
