Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

6:30 a.m. traffic update

An earlier tractor-trailer accident has closed I-95 northbound at Exit 2 in Greenwich and it is causing a huge back-up on the highway.

Traffic is backed up to Exit 21 in New York State, and the best route into Connecticut from New York this morning is Route 1 or the Merritt Parkway. Greenwich residents should use Arch Street, says News 12’s Lorin Richardson.

The good news is that everything else is running smoothly, and that the backup is in the opposite direction of most people’s morning commute.

No other congestion or delays on I-95, the Merritt or Route 8/25 at this time.

Metro North trains are operating normally too.

Watch for deep pudles on low-lying local roads.
