Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

7 a.m. traffic report

|

There are delays now on I-95 southbound, in Fairfield and Norwalk.

The first congested stretch is about three miles long, from Exits 25 to 21, and the second starts in Westport at Exit 18 and goes to Exit 14– that’s another three miles.

It’s just heavy volume, no accidents to report.

Behind it, volume is beginning to build at the usual choke points, including the bottom of the Route 8/25 ramps to I-95 in Bridgeport and Exit 27A  into downtown Bridgeport.

A check of the Merritt Parkway shows no similar back-ups at this hour, it’s clear from the Sikorsky Bridge in Milford out to Stamford. But check back, because that can change fast.

Route 8 is clear in both directions and I-84 in Waterbury is lighter than usual.

Metro North reports no delays.
