Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

7:30 a.m. traffic update

An accident has been reported on Route 8 northbound, between Exits 11 and 12.

It is off to the shoulder and traffic is getting by. There are no reported injuries.

I-95 is sitting a busy, but not bustling place, through the Bridgeport exits and again out by Norwalk. The DOT estimates your average speed through those zones will be between 33-41 miles per hour; fast enough to feel like you’re moving.

Route 25 southbound is also congested, around the Route 111 Exit in Monroe, where the expressway portion ends. No accident has been reported there; it appears to be just a lot of people trying to get to the same place at the same time.

Route 8 remains clear and Metro North says that all of its inbound New Haven line trains will reach Grand Central Terminal at or close to schedule.
