Backup from crash now into New Haven

|

The bus crash on I-95 in Stratford southbound has caused a backup that now extends into New Haven, a distance of about 20 miles.

Although all of the 56 people on the two buses involved in the 10:35 a.m. crash have been taken off the highway — 12 were injured — the accident scene is still active and traffic is only squeezing by on the shoulder.

At Long Wharf in New Haven, cars and trucks are sitting and waiting.

Meanwhile, State Police say that school buses are enroute from Milford to ferry stranded passengers to their destimations.

Complicating matters is a second accident that occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on the southbound side  of I-95 in Milford. That crash, between exits 34 and 32, has closed the left and center lanes of a highway already crammed with vehicles.
