Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

Traffic update: 7:30 a.m.

Things are going downhill fast. And the weather is not cooperating. Thunderstorms are now falling in southwestern Connecticut. That should slow down things even more.

Interstate 95

Heavy rain pelts I-95 in Bridgeport at 7:30 a.m.

We’ve not a mess on I-95 with lots of traffic crawling from Bridgeport to Darien. That’s more than 15 miles of slow moving stop and go traffic.

While there are some open pockets of traffic, you’ll be lucky to top the low 20 mph range.

Past Exit 13 in Darien, things loosen up for the ride to Stamford and Greenwich.

East to New Haven, it;s a good ride once you get past Exit 30 in Stamford.

Live cams:

Exit 30 Stratford.

Exit 27 Bridgeport.

Exit 22 Fairfield.

Exit 18 Westport.

Exit 17 Saugatuck.

Exit 16 Norwalk/Darien.

Exit 9 Stamford

Merritt Parkway

In slightly better shape, but lots of congestion. Speeds are knocked down in the mid-30s to low 40 mph range from Trumbull down to High Ridge Road in Stamford.

Yes, it’s slow, but traffic is moving with no accidents reported.

Route 25

Traffic building southbound just before the Merritt merge.

Interstate 84

Danbury is in good shape, but eastbound riders through Waterbury are getting jammed.

Metro-North

Still rolling on schedule.
