As it usually does, the heavy traffic from the morning commute is moving south as the day wears on.
Right now the biggest delays on I-95 southbound are in Greenwich, where it is particularly slow near Exit 8 (North State Street), the DOT says.
It’s heavy too, from Bridgeport to Norwalk, but there are pockets where traffic moves well and some spots where it is flowing, if slowly. The average speed in that 18-mile stretch is 37 mph, the DOT says.
Road construction has closed the right lane of Route 8/25 northbound, near Exit 7, though it does not appear to be impacting traffic too much.
The rest of Route 8 is clear and Metro North trains are still on or close to schedule. Since extreme heat can affect the catenary system, delays are possible as the temperature rises, that could change.
