Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

Traffic update: 7 a.m.

|

Southwestern Connecticut commuters are on the road again on what is expected to be one of the hottest days of the year.

Interstate 95

As usual, the biggest backup this early hour is in Bridgeport near Exit 26 down to Exit 22. That’s about a 3-mile crawl with speeds in the teens and 20 mph.

Past exit 21 in Fairfield, speeds pick up into the 50s for a nice cruise down to Stamford, Greenwich and beyond.

The ride to New Haven and the eastern shoreline is also carefree at this time of day.

Merritt Parkway

7 AM is a good time to be on the Sikorsky Memorial Bridge in Milford.

7 AM is a good time to be on the Sikorsky Memorial Bridge in Milford.

It’s a good time to be on the parkway with the only congestion showing up after the Route 25 merge in Trumbull.

Then, it’s a very nice, no hassle, top speed cruise down to the border.

Across the Sikorsky Memorial Bridge onto the Wilbur Cross, it’s also problem-free.

Interstate 84

Ride between Danbury and Waterbury is in fine shape. There’s some early congestion building in Waterbury around the Brass City Mall.

Metro-North

On or close to schedule.
