It probably won’t be possible to drive the speed limit on the southbound side of the Merritt Parkway at the moment, but with the DOT estimating average speeds of from 31 to 42 m.p.h. it isn’t a horror show either.

The slowdown begins at the Sikorsky Memorial Bridge is Stratford and extends into Fairfield. The most-congested stretch right now is the 3.6 miles between Exits 48-44.

I-95 is heavy where it usually is at this time of day, and that heavy traffic now extends into Fairfield, to Exit 20, from the Bridgeport-Stratford line. It is heavy again in Norwalk, including at the Route 7 interchange.

There is roadwork again today in Milford, and the crews are back out there now. All of the work is on the north side of the highway and it shouldn’t affect your commute too much, unless you fell compelled to slow down to look at a construction crane. (What are you, 12?)

Route 8 is clear through the Valley but gets busy in Bridgeport, just before the merge onto I-95.

No delays being reported by Metro North at this hour.
