Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

9 a.m. traffic update

Traffic is still very heavy from Bridgeport practically to Stamford on I-95 southbound. For more than 20 miles it’s stop and go with more stopping than anything else. No accidents, just everyone trying to get to the same place at once.

There are pockets where things open up a bit, around the Sherwood Island Connector is one, but it doesn’t last for long (or far).

Wouldn’t it be great if the Merritt was in better shape? Well, it is, slightly. The volume is less and the congested area shorter, from the Fairfield line to Easton and New Canaan.

If that’s a viable option for you, it might be a good idea to take Route 15.
