Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

8 a.m. traffic update

The tractor-trailer rollover on I-95 northbound is on the Wordin Avenue on-ramp (Exit 27). The driver is out safely, State Police report. There is a small fuel spill on the roadway that Bridgeport firefighters are cleaning up.

There also appears to be another accident, possibly related to the first, involving a van and a car. That is on the highway itself; all of the occupants are out of those vehicles.

Although this is on the opposite side of the highway than the one most of us use in the morning, this has the potential to cause long back-ups and delays. The DOT estimates that it could be an hour or more before the scene clears. If you don’t slow down to look at it, your trip will be even faster.

The Merritt Parkway is jammed this morning, at least partly due to an earlier tractor-trailer mishap in Greenwich that shut down I-95 near Exit 5 briefly. That truck has been removed from the highway.

The slowdown on the Merritt extends from the Sikorsky Memorial Bridge in Stratford all the way out to New Canaan. It opens up briefly before another another congested  spot near Route 7 in Norwalk.live

Route 8 remains clear through the Valley. The trains are on time.
