All lanes of I-95 southbound near the site of an earlier tractor-trailer accident in Milford have reopened, but traffic is still backed up for several exits. The truck has been removed from the highway.
The interstate is also congested between downtown Bridgeport and Exit 17 in Norwalk– a distance of more than 10 miles– because of heavy traffic. The state DOT expects average speeds in the area to vary from 11 miles per hour to 33, with the worst congestion near the Route 8/25 ramps in Bridgeport and the Sherwood Island Connector in Westport.
The Merritt Parkway is no picnic either. It is choked between Exits 48 at the Trumbull-Bridgeport line and Exit 44 in Fairfield, about a 3.5 mile stretch. Average speeds through there are 23 miles per hour.
The parkway is busy too at the Route 8/25 merge in Bridgeport and at Route 111.
Route 8 through the Valley could be affected by a crash, reported by the Valley Independent Sentinel, of a truck vs an SUV on Roosevelt Drive (Route 34) in Derby. Exits 15 and 14 of Route 8 are nearby.
Metro North reports that all trains are running on or close to schedule.
