Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

Morning commute easing up

|

Traffic is now flowing smoothly in the southbound lanes in Milford following an earlier tractor-trailer vs. car accident.

The accident near Exit 34 closed the left and center lanes for nearly an hour, causing a 3-mile backup.

Currently there are no major backups on I-95 from Bridgeport to Down County. Yes, there are some slowdowns around Norwalk and Stamford, but not really a big deal.

Merritt Parkway

There is heavy congestion on the parkway from Trumbull down to New Canaan. Speeds are struggling to get above 30 mph.

Wilbur Cross Parkway

Motorists aren’t taking any chances with that earlier Milford accident. Many are getting off I-95 Exit 38 onto the Danniel Wasson Connector to hook up with the Wilbur Cross, across the Sikorsky bridge and down the Merritt. Because of that, we got heavy delays on the connector and across the bridge. That however, should ease soon.

There is an accident near Exit 60 in Hamden that is causing big northbound backups to the West Rock tunnel.
