Shelton schedules road resurfacing

The following roads have been scheduled to be resurfaced by the Shelton Highways and Bridges Department., in conjunction with Sealcoating Inc. of Braintree, Mass.

Residents and motorist are advised to expect roadway closures and extended traffic delays.  Please plan trips around these areas to avoid extended delays.

1.  Thursday September 19th  (all day).

a.  Waverly Road (entire length) – (first coat). 

1)  1st Section -  Rt-108 to Walnut Tree Hill Road.

2)  2nd Section – Walnut Tree Hill Road to Booth Hill Road.

2.   Friday September 20th.

a.  Isinglass Road (partial) – (first coat).

1)  From Rt-108 to Waverly Road.  (Morning).

b.  Waverly Road (partial) – (second coat).

              1)  From Walnut Tree Hill to Booth Hill Road.  (Afternoon).

3.  Monday September 23rd.

a.  Isinglass Road (partial) – (second coat).

1)  From Rt-108 to Waverly Road.  (Morning).

b.  Constitution Boulevard South – (first coat).

1)  From Rt-110 to new pavement area near Ivy Brook Road.  (afternoon – may go after 5:00).

4.  Tuesday September 24th.

a.  Constitution Boulevard South – (second coat).

             1)  From Rt-110 to new pavement area near Ivy Brook Road.  (Morning).

b.   Constitution Boulevard North – (first coat).

              1)  From Rt-108 to Summerfield Gardens Condominiums.

5.  Wednesday September 25th

       a.  Constitution Boulevard North – (second coat).

               1)  From Rt-108 to Summerfield Gardens Condominiums.

School Buses

All School buses will have access to their respective routes for pickup and drop off.  The resurfacing process may cause delays in the afternoon drop off.

General Information

The resurfacing process consists of a mix that will cover the existing roadway.  The mix takes approximately one hour to dry before being driven on.   The mix is applied at a width of 11-15 feet and usually takes 2 passes to cover the entire width of a regular two lane road.  (Constitution Boulevard is wider.)
