A series of accidents  is causing huge problems on most major roads this morning.

Merritt/Wilbur Cross parkways

More than 17 miles of very heavy southbound traffic from Exit 48 in Trumbull down to Exit 36 in New Canaan.

Speeds are crawling along in the teens.

An earlier northbound accident on the Wilbur has traffic backed up from the Route 34 exit in Orange to Hamden.

The turnpike also has more than 17 miles ofsouthbound  congestion from Exit 30 in Stratford to Exit 13 in Darien.

There are no reports of injuries, yet, but the truck collided with a car, between exits 44-46, in the Long Wharf area. The left lane is closed, causing a 7-mile backup.

The second accident of the morning near the Saw Mill Road exit in West Haven involves one vehicle, but it is causing a lot of havoc. The right lane is closed in an already-congested section of southbound I-95

Interstate 84

A westbound tractor-trailer accidents in Bethel is causing huge backups stretching into Waterbury.

It’s also affecting traffic on Route 25 in Newtown and Route 7 in Danbury.

Route 8

Road work has resumed and will go until 3 p.m. on the northbound side between Exit 4 — Lindley Street in Bridgeport — and Exit 8 — Nichols/Route 108 in Trumbull. The two left lanes will be closed in that 3-mile stretch (leaving one open, if you’re counting).
