Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

TGIF? Not if you’re driving home tonight

|

Update, 6:30 p.m.:

It’s getting better, but it’s still slow on both 15 and 95.

The Merritt is up to about 30 m.p.h is most places, with a slowdown around North Stamford. Biggest problem seems to be around Exit 31 in Greenwich, where things are really slow.

I-95 northbound is still slow from the New York state line to Fairfield. Speeds in the 20s.

No major accidents causing the back-ups here; it’s just a crowded Friday.

Routes 7 and 8 look fine and Metro North is apparently running on time.

Earlier:

It’s bad out there, folks.

Rush hour is just getting started and already there are reports of more than 40 miles of sluggishness on the Merritt Parkway, from Exit 29 to Exit 59.

Interstate 95 is under 20 m.p.h from Greenwich to Fairfield.
