Accidents slow commuters

It was tough going for commuters this AM.

The biggest headache was in the Danbury area because of a tractor-trailer fire in Brewster, N.Y.

For several hours, the accident  closed all westbound lanes near the state border, creating a traffic jam more than 5 miles long.

By mid-morning only the right lane was closed. Backups continued to the Route 7 merge with I-84 in Danbury,

Around noon, all lanes were reopened.

The fire happened shortly before 6 a.m. The accident was near the I-684 merge.

Interstate 95

During the morning rush hour, a pickup that fell onto its side across two lanes of the northbound side of the highway, near Exit 34 in Milford.

Officials indicate that the driver suffered minor injuries. A motorist reportedly helped the pickup driver out of the cab before medical technicians got there.

During the early afternoon, traffic was moving along on I-95 with no major problems or accidents.

Merritt Parkway

Nice ride both directions.
