Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

Morning rush winding down

|

UPDATED  9:30 a.m.

Conditions have eased considerably on both I-95 and the Merritt Parkway, as people arrive at work and school.

Traffic is now flowing unimpeded for the most part on the Merritt southbound, though you’ll dip below the (posted) speed limit in several spots.

Further back, an accident earlier this morning on the Wilbur Cross Parkway (also Route 15)  in Orange is still causing delays.

The back-up on I-95 south has shrunk considerably — it had at one point covered 20 miles, from Stratford practically to Darien. Right now the heaviest volume is from downtown in Bridgeport out to Fairfield.

The road opens up ahead of you after that, like a 1950s car commercial.

Metro North Railroad is reporting delays of up to 10 minutes on all New Haven Line trains, due to congestion caused by track work.
