Southwestern Connecticut traffic updates from the staff at Hearst Connecticut Media Group

Evening commute a sluggish ride home

|

The weekend is here and it’s going to be great, just as soon as you get through this Friday night traffic.

So far, we’re seeing the usual delays, with particular slowness on I-95 between Stamford and Darien. Both 95 and the Merritt Parkway are under 20 mph from Stamford all the way through Bridgeport.

Routes 7 and 8 look pretty good in both directions so far, with a little tap on the brakes near Exit 5 on Route 8. North of the Bridgeport area, we’ve got some serious slowing on Route 25 in Monroe; it’s not yet clear what’s causing that.

Metro North is reporting trains running on time for the New Haven Line and all Connecticut branches. 6 p.m. update: Metro North is now saying there are delays of 5 to 10 minutes out of Grand Central because of switch problems near Harlem-125th.

And for those of you in the Danbury area, emergency crews are working the scene of a rollover crash on I-84 westbound between Exits 8 and 7. The right shoulder is closed and speeds are slowing as people move around the accident.
