Snow making roads slick

It has begun snowing in the Bridgeport-Stamford corridor along I-95,  and inland above the Merritt Parkway. It is also snowing along Route 8 through the Naugatuck Valley.

Several school districts across the region have cancelled classes ahead of the storm, which should make traffic lighter than usual. But if you leave as soon as you can, you can beat the brunt of the traffic, and the snow.

I-95 southbound is heavy from Darien into Greenwich, as the morning commute winds down.

The Merritt Parkway southbound is busy too, but for a smaller stretch — and further south– from Wilton Road to the Route 7 merge in Norwalk.

The Stratford Avenue Bridge over the Pequonnock River in Bridgeport is stuck open and thus closed to vehicular traffic until further notice.

No delays reported on Metro North trains. Railroad officials are advising patrons that platforms and stairs may be slick and to use caution boarding and exiting trains.

Routes 7, 8 and 25 are clear.
