A car caught fire on I-95 northbound in Darien just after 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon near the rest stop. Responding Darien firefighters found the car to be “fully involved” on arrival.
The car was parked on the median, and the driver appeared to have taken refuge a number of yards back from the car. State police said there were no injuries.
Traffic in both directions quickly became jammed up, as smoke filled the air across the highway, and drivers slowed to have a look.
The fire was put out just before 4:30 p.m.
