Traffic update at 8:30 a.m.
There are some roadwork delays on area roads including on I-95 Northbound between Exits 32 and 34 in Milford, a stretch of 2.6 miles., The state DOT reports that the right lane is closed through this area, and the Exit 34 off ramp is also closed. The work will continue until 3 p.m.
I-95 Southbound is congested between Exits 31 and 5, a distance of more than 25 miles through lower Fairfield County as rush hour winds down.
A tractor-trailer accident at Exit 46 in the Long Wharf area of New Haven has snarled traffic there, though the site is beginning to clear.

Gas leak, brush fire slow traffic on I-95
A compromised steel gas main under the High Street bridge over Interstate 95 northbound in Milford has touched off a small brush fire that is sending smoke over the highway, fire officials say.
The Milford Fire Department is on the scene and a representative of the Southern Connecticut Gas Co. is enroute. The state Department of Transportation has posted a travel advisory suggesting that motorists avoid the area.
Traffic is backing up to Exit 38, Route 1 in Devon, a distance of about two miles.
