Metro North service now close to schedule

by:

Service into Grand Central Terminal was delayed for about 30 minutes in Harrison, N.Y. this morning, Metro North Railroad officials said. Service on the New Haven Line resumed normal operations shortly before 9 a.m., MTA spokesman Salvatore Arena said.

Police in Harrison, N.Y. requested at 7 a.m. that power be cut and trains held in the Mamaroneck, Larchmont and Harrison area while they pursued a suspect, Arena said Service resumed through the area but at reduced speeds at 7:38 a.m., he said. In all 10 trains were affected, the MTA official said.

A call to Harrison police was not immediately returned.

Canceled trains hold up Metro-North traffic

by:

New York-bound trains throughout the morning have been delayed by between 10 and 20 minutes because of two trains that were canceled because of mechanical problems, a Metro-North spokesman said.

Several commuters tweeted to Hearst Connecticut Media Group that their trains were delayed — one by as many as 25 minutes — and that trains were particularly crowded because of the backup.

Salvatore Arena, a spokesman for Metro-North, said the delays were caused by two trains — one in Stamford and one in New Rochelle — being canceled because of mechanical problems.

Arena said he expected trains to be on or close to on schedule by about 9 a.m.
