J.J. Henry finished at 4-under 66. He wasn’t overly pleased with his putting, but he certainly wasn’t complaining about his start. He boomed a driver 309 yards off the first tee and then hit hit a gap wedge from of the fairway 114 yards for an eagle. The ball bounced a few feet from the hole and found the bottom of the cup.
“It’s always a nice way to kind of get the week going, especially early in the morning,’’ Henry said. “Not too many people saw it because it was so early. But to play well in the first round, the scores are very low and consistently low probably with no wind and soft greens. But to shoot 66, 4-under, in the first round … Hopefully, I can kind of build on it and maybe work on my putting early this afternoon and get ready to play tomorrow.’’
