Just back from the driving range, where the tournament held a press conference with the Connecticut Golf Alliance, showing off the CGA’s study of state golf’s economic impact. If you’re interested, the full report is available on the Connecticut State Golf Association’s site. As part of the celebration, Governor M. Jodi Rell proclaimed today Golf Industry Day in the state.

PGA of America CEO Joe Steranka was there, mentioning his organization’s We Are Golf initiative. “Golf is bigger than the motion-picture industry, bigger than the newspaper publishing industry,” Steranka said. (“Hey,” mumbled someone in the audience.)

The Connecticut Golf Alliance, by the way, appears to include every golf organization in the state this side of Milford Rec.
