What will UConn’s roster look like next year?

by:

Alex Oriakhi isn’t technically gone, but there’s a very, very slim chance he returns. Outside of that, UConn’s roster next year — including its coaching staff — is loaded with question marks.

It’s possible that Andre Drummond comes back for an additional season. Then again, it’s also possible that he jumps for his Top 5 money now.

Below, I examine several scenarios for next season’s roster. Jeremy Lamb, who has yet to declare, is not part of any of them. I just don’t see any way he returns for his junior season.

Note: UConn regains the two scholarships it lost in 2011-12 for poor APR. A * denotes a new scholarship recipient.

Chris Obepka (AP)

BEST CASE: Drummond stays, Omar Calhoun honors commitment, UConn signs top 2012 target Chris Obepka, no one else bolts.

F — Tyler Olander

F — DeAndre Daniels

G/F — Niels Giffey

G – R.J. Evans*

    Not sure at this point

Any update on Evans, Kevin? Done deal or not?

  4. Ryan says:

So its already a sure thing that RJ Evans is coming to uconn? Thought he just came on a visit.

There is a HOT rumor out there that Shocka Smart (VCU) would come in and try and take this team over. I think Uconn should name Ollie the Head Coach now !!

Calhoun retires – Tom Moore HC

Missouri is getting a lot of interest from the big-long somotypes because they won the Big 12 tourn., beat Kansas in head to head points, finished ranked third in the nation, and made their coach AP, BSW, Coach of the Year, this year with only one starter over 6’6″ and nobody on the bench over 6’8″. Also they get their best player back who missed the whole season with a knee injury (Bowers). Assuming UConn doesn’t keep Oriakhi, is Missouri a good landing place? Can he keep up with the 40 minutes of hell pace that Anderson installed at Missouri and that the players carry forward like part of their character?

  8. Kevin Duffy says:

Don’t think there’s any way George Blaney becomes the head coach if Calhoun retires

    Coaching Staff :

Best Case : Calhoun HC Ollie AHC Miller / Hobbs Coaches – blaney retires
Worse Case : Blaney HC Ollie AHC Miller / Hobbs Coaches – calhoun retires

Most likely: Calhoun HC Blaney AHC Miller/ Ollie Coaches – same staff for the most part…

p.s. I would like to see Ollie promoted before we lose him to another school.
