Xavier Rathan Mayes, believed to be UConn’s top priority in the class of 2013, will not visit campus this weekend, according to The New Haven Register’s Dave Borges.
The highly-regarded shooting guard told Borges that he “”just had to be at Huntington (Prep) this weekend” and couldn’t make it to UConn, as initially planned. He also told Borges that he’ll still announce his college decision at an Oct. 13 press conference.
In June, Rathan Mayes said “it would be really special if (Ollie) became head coach.” He has already made official visits to Florida State and Illinois, and has been to Storrs several times unofficially (last year’s First Night).
Rathan Mayes confirmed his visit Wednesday to Hearst Connecticut Media Group, but could not be reached for comment Thursday evening.
