Jabari Parker, the nation’s No. 1 recruit in the class of 2013, will not attend UConn.
As reported by ESPN’s Reggie Rankin, the versatile 6-foot-8 forward from Chicago trimmed his list to five schools: BYU, Duke, Florida, Michigan State and Stanford.
UConn wasn’t on Parker’s initial 10-team list, but was allowed an in-home visit after Kevin Ollie took over as head coach. A person familiar with the situation said that Parker was “very impressed” with Ollie. Apparently, not enough.
The Huskies are still in the running for two major 2013 prospects: Shooting guard Xavier Rathan Mayes (Ontario) and power forward Noah Vonleh (Haverhill, Mass.). Rathan Mayes will decide between UConn, Illinois and Florida State on Oct. 13.
