Napier earns spot on weekly AAC honor roll, Huskies fall to 19th/20th in polls

UConn senior guard Shabazz Napier was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll after scoring 18 points with seven rebounds and seven assists in the season-opening 78-77 win against Maryland.

Rutgers’ Kadeem Jack was named the AAC Player of the Week after scoring 30 points against Florida A&M. South Florida’s Chris Perry was the conference’s Rookie of the Week for his 14 points with seven rebounds and two blocks in a 72-62 win against Tennessee Tech.

HUSKIES FALL: In Monday’s AP poll the Huskies fell one spot to No. 19 despite their opening win against Maryland. Oregon leap-frogged UConn after beating Georgetown in its opener. The Huskies also fell one spot to 20th in the USA Today poll.
