Ollie, Manuel: Talks continue on contract

A quick read on Friday’s press conference at the XL Center to unveil the 2015 American Athletic Conference logo for the men’s tournament. Both coach Kevin Ollie and athletics director Warde Manuel said contract talks are ongoing and there is no deadline for a new contract to be struck.

Manuel on contract talks with Kevin Ollie:

“We’ve had great conversations.”

“We are looking forward to bringing it to a close.”

Ollie during press conference on tourney in Hartford:

“Hopefully we’ll be cutting down the nets our second time.”

“I’m going to be here. UConn is going to be here.”

UConn President Susan Herbst on Ollie contract talks:

“We want Kevin here. Here’s very committed to UConn. I think that (talks are) going well.”

NOTES: Ollie said Amida Brimah (shoulder) is doing all right after off-season shoulder surgery. Ollie: “He’s doing good, right on schedule.” … AAC is expected to release men’s basketball schedule after Memorial Day. Teams will play eight opponents home-and-away, and then play the other two with one home and one away. … Ollie is pleased with Ryan Boatright’s decision to stay at UConn for his senior season. Boatright taking May summer class in Storrs. Ollie said Shabazz Napier’s decision to return for senior season and success he had helped Boatright.
