Quick look at UConn’s AAC schedule

|

On Thursday afternoon the American Athletic Conference released its 2014-15 men’s basketball schedule. The defending national champion UConn Huskies will open conference play on Dec. 31 at home against Temple, marking the first time in three years they will not be on the road for New Year’s Eve.

Highlights of the schedule include: three 9 p.m. starts, including a Valentine’s Day visit to SMU. The Huskies will play the Mustangs again at home on CBS March 1. An 11 a.m. home game with Cincinnati on Jan. 10 and Feb. 19 game at Memphis. UConn will play ever opponent in the conference home-home except for the University of Central Florida, which will only come to Connecticut (Jan. 22).

UConn (32-8) went 12-6 last season in The American, tying for third place. The Huskies reached the championship game, but lost to Louisville. The Cardinals and Mustangs swept the Huskies last season and the other two regular-season loses came at Cincinnati and at Houston.

This season’s American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championship will take place March 12-15 at the XL Center in Hartford.
