RB Joe Williams suspended

Sophomore running back Joe Williams has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team policies, UConn announced Monday.

The school had no further comment on the matter, but multiple outlets reported that Williams was arrested Aug. 9 on on charges of theft of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card, and sixth-degree larceny. Citing the police report, The Hartford Courant reported that Williams is charged with taking $60 cash from an individual’s wallet and using a stolen credit card to purchase an item valued at $124.90.

Williams appears in court Aug. 20.

A 5-foot-11, 202-pound back with game-breaking speed, Williams was expected to spell starter Lyle McCombs. Now that he’s suspended, bruiser Max DeLorenzo figures to have the back-up job.

Maybe when the charges are serious enough to suspend indefinitely, disclosures should be made as to what the charges were, as the players are given a free college education paid for by the people of Connecticut. Maybe the people should know what there money was wasted on.
