UConn two-deep for Towson game released

|

The UConn Huskies just released their two-deep roster for their opening game on August 29 against Towson at Rentschler Field and there are two surprises: redshirt sophomore linebacker Graham Stewart from Xavier High School, who transfered to UConn after spending a season at Florida, beat out Jefferson Ashiru for a starting linebacker job. Graham, a 6-foot-2, 236-pounder, had been impressive all throughout fall camp.
In addition, true freshman Matt Walsh (6-foot, 227 pounds) has won the starting fullback spot, beating out Jazzmar Clax. At center, Alex Mateas will get the starting nod over Tyler Bullock, although the two pretty much alternated at that position last season. And at safety, Obi Melifonwu will start. Andrew Adams would likely have been the starter but he was injured this past week in practice.
