600 Acts of Kindness on UWWC’s Annual Day of Action

What is an act of kindness?

Kindness is more than charity, it is more than service. It is compassion, empathy and altruism.  Kindness is contagious. Acts of kindness do not only impact the immediate recipients of our actions, but generate a ripple effect of kindness throughout our community.

In the words of Scott Adams, “every act of kindness creates a ripple with no logical end.”

If this notion is correct, think of how many ripples of kindness will be flowing throughout greater Danbury and greater New Milford on June 4, our annual Day of Action? How many other acts of kindness will be inspired by the actions of our dedicated volunteers from 25 local businesses and corporations?

With nearly 600 volunteers out in the community on one day of service, that should create about 600 acts of kindness in just 8 hours. Inspiring!

United Way of Western Connecticut (UWWC) is thrilled to support nearly 600 volunteers fCycling Sports Goup New Pond Farm v2rom 25 local businesses and corporations who will demonstrate their commitment to volunteerism and community support by taking part in our annual Day of Action.  More than 100 projects will be completed to benefit more than 30 nonprofit agencies throughout greater Danbury and greater New Milford on Wednesday, June 4th.

Area companies have signed up for projects such as reading to children, coordinating book drives and book fairs for preschool children, conducting a financial literacy seminar for area workers, cleaning up playgrounds, landscaping, painting, and cleaning.

Volunteers are the foundation of every successful organization and every thriving community. We are grateful to be surrounded by so many socially responsible companies who truly value volunteerism and who encourage their employees to dedicate a workday to volunteering. It is because of their leadership support and commitment to our community that so much important work is done and so many lives are changed.

We thank each and every volunteer for their dedication to our communities. We hope that this day inspires you to give of your time again some time soon.
