Snow not affecting neighborhood liquor sales

BRIDGEPORT — The light snow doesn’t seem to be negatively affecting this neighborhood liquor store’s sales. There has been a steady stream of customers all morning. “I’m seeing my normal crew,” said Granfield Liquor owner Alex Martinez. “They’re just coming a little earlier because they’re not working today.”

Martinez said he doesn’t expect sales to be as high in the afternoon, partly because of the snow and partly because of Mayor Bill Finch’s snow emergency declaration. The mayor has announced that the emergency routine here will begin at 5 p.m. Customers seem to be stocking up and preparing to ride out the storm in their homes, Martinez said.
