Westport schools: First open, then quickly close

Within hours of saying that Westport public schools would open today (Friday, Feb. 8) on the usual schedule, despite the looming blizzard — virtually the only school district in the region to convene classes — school officials have decided to send students home early as snow already began falling across southwestern Connecticut by 7 a.m.

Early dismissal is as follows: Staples High School, 11:45 a.m.; Bedford Middle School, 12:15 p.m.; Coleytown Middle School, noon.
Greens Farms and Saugatuck elementary schools, 12:45 p.m.; Coleytown Elementary School, 1:15 p.m., and Long Lots and Kings Highway elementary schools, 1 p.m.

Call the school’s storm hotline — 203-341-1766 — for updates.
