Cooling centers offer relief

The following are a list of cooling centers in southwestern Connecticut:

BRIDGEPORT

Burroughs-Saden Main Branch, 925 Broad Street; Mon. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Tue. 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Wed. 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. ; Thurs. 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Fri. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. -5 p.m.

Black Rock Library, 2705 Fairfield Ave. Mon. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Tue. 12 – 8 p.m.; Wed. 10 a.m – 5 p.m.; Thurs. 12 – 8 p.m.; Fri. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sat. 1 – 5 p.m.

Newfield Library, 1230 Stratford Ave. Mon. 1 – 5 p.m.; Tue. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Wed. 12 – 8 p.m.; Thurs. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Fri. 1 – 5 p.m.; Sat. 1 – 5 p.m.

Old Mill Green, 1677-81 East Main St.; Mon. 1 – 5 p.m.; Tue. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Wed. 12 – 8 p.m.; Thurs. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Fri. 1 – 5 p.m.; Sat. 1 – 5 p.m.

City senior citizens can visit the Eisenhower and North End-Bethany Senior Centers which are open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the East Side Senior Center which is open 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Also, the Greater Bridgeport Transit bus station will be open as a cooling station Tuesday until 10:30 p.m.

FAIRFIELD

Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road; 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday

Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road; 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. – 6 p p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday

Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace; 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday to Friday

MILFORD

Milford Senior Center, 9 Jepson Drive, which is open Monday & Wednesday from 9 a.m. -8p p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; and Sunday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

STAMFORD

Designated Cooling Centers for July 14, 15, 16, 17:

Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd (8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Stamford Fire Department Headquarters, 629 Main St., (8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Long Ridge Fire Company 366 Old Long Ridge Road (8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

STRATFORD

All Stratford fire stations — Main Street, Oronoque Lane, Lordship, Huntington Road — are designated cooling centers and available to town residents.
