Weather updates for Fairfield County Connecticut

A dark and stormy week ahead

|

Be careful what you wish for.

Last week, when the region was broiling under an extended heat wave, many of us (and you know who you are) said a little rain and lower temperatures would be refreshing.

Prepare to be refreshed. The National Weather Service says that a pattern of thick clouds, showers and thunderstorms will sit over us until at least Wednesday night. It will definitely be cooler, with daytime highs in the low 80s, and while the humidity, obviously, won’t be low, we should be more comfortable outside.

Air quality will be up and pollen counts down from last week, forecasters say. And the UV (suntan) index? Um, that will be down too, at least until later in the week.

The rain and thunderstorms that were predicted on Saturday and Sunday for the most part never materialized, and Sunday afternoon brought glorious summer weather. So, what happened to the storms?
