Significant snowstorm bearing down on us

Get ready. Winter is about to make a major comeback.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all of  southern Connecticut from midday Tuesday into Tuesday night. Between 4 and 8 inches of snow are possible, with higher amounts in the southeast section of the state.

Here’s a look at the last time the state was blanketed in snow, earlier this month:

And that January thaw? It’s over, at least for now.

  • M.L.King Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 45. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph.
  • Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. North wind 8 to 11 mph.
  • Tuesday: Snow, mainly after noon. High near 23. North wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
  • Tuesday Night: Snow, mainly before midnight. Low around 10. Wind chill values as low as -5. North wind 14 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
  • Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 19. Northwest wind 15 to 17 mph.
  • Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 9.
  • Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25.
  • Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26.
  • Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18.
  • Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34.
  • Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.
  • Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 34.
