Cold continues, snow Saturday

A bitterly cold start again this temperatures in the single digits in many areas of southwestern Connecticut.

At 6 AM, it was 6 degrees in Danbury, 5 in Oxford and 9 in Bridgeport and New Haven.

The NWS said at noon Friday that Saturday’s high could be above freezing, but that the “warm-up” won’t last.

The cold weather, and a chance, of snow is in the forecast for the next few days:

  • Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 14. Wind chill values as low as -6. Northwest wind 6 to 10 mph.
  • Tonight Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Wind chill values as low as zero. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph.
  • Saturday A chance of snow before 2pm, then snow likely between 2pm and 4pm, then snow with areas of blowing snow after 4pm. High near 28. Wind chill values as low as -1. South wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Saturday Night Snow showers likely with areas of blowing snow before 1am, then areas of blowing snow and a slight chance of snow showers between 1am and 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
  • Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 18. Northwest wind around 8 mph.
  • Sunday Night A chance of light snow after 10pm. Cloudy, with a low around 18. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Monday A chance of light snow before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 33. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
