Colder temps, snow in the forecast

Today will be cold with temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s for highs.

A cold front crossing the region this afternoon could generate a few snow showers this afternoon.

Then, arctic air moves in behind the front and temperatures plummet tonight into Friday. Record low temperatures as well as Record low maximum temperatures are a possibility for Friday. Wind chills will make it feel even colder.

At 6 AM, the temperature was 1 degree in Danbury, 7 in Oxford, 11 in Milford and 15 in Bridgeport.

We’re keeping an eye on the chance for snow during the late weekend into Monday.  The National Weather Service in its forecast discussion this morning said: “A very active and very cold period are expected during the long term with the potential for a significant snow event late Sunday night through Monday evening.”

  • Today: Scattered snow showers, mainly after noon. Increasing clouds, with a high near 29. Light and variable wind becoming west 12 to 17 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 3. Wind chill values as low as -7. West wind 8 to 15 mph.
  • Friday: Sunny, with a high near 19. Wind chill values as low as -9. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph.
  • Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 10. Calm wind.
  • Saturday: A slight chance of snow showers after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Saturday Night: A slight chance of snow showers after 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Sunday: A chance of light snow, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Sunday Night: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 18. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
  • Monday: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 24. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
  • Monday Night: Snow likely.
